How do we know truth?

“In fact, you place so little value on experience that when what your experience of God differs from what you’ve heard of God, you automatically discard the experience and own the words, when it should be just the other way around.” (quoted from Conversations with God)

Experience leads us into truth – just ask anyone who has accidentally leant on a hot stove! Experience is how growing children acquire the bulk of their knowledge (it has been said that we have learnt half of all we will ever learn by the time we are 5 years old). Throughout life we have a wide variety of experiences that we can attribute to physical, emotional or even spritual causes. Whatever the cause, the lessons from our experience are trustworthy guides.
